Padova Desk

Padova Desk is a simple, elegant and pleasantly understated writing desk that really comes into its own at home. When not being used as a work desk, it can easily be used as a side table.

It was inspired by a piece of historical furniture, which I encountered during my work as a furniture restorer in Padua in the summer of 2001. I was stunned by the formal anachronism, which was more modern than Romanesque and, despite its representative character, free of any ornamentation.

The episode left such a lasting impression that almost 20 years later I took the idea out of the mental cabinet and interpreted it on the basis of my own system of measure and proportion.

This also entails the intention to craft a piece that stands the test of time, both with respect to functionality and style - and will be a companion for many years to come.

The writing desk is made to order in elm, red beech or European cherry - with a silky surface feel and an oil finish that is both natural and durable.

On request a matching pull-out felt drawer for writing utensils can be integrated.
